Meet PathLeague: Weekly Step Races With Friends in Pathlings

Walking is more fun when your friends are moving with you.

That is the idea behind PathLeague, a new Pathlings feature that turns your weekly steps into friendly races between you, your friends, and the Pathlings you are raising.

There are no complicated teams to create and no codes to exchange.

PathLeague connects through Apple’s Game Center, brings your friends’ Pathlings together, and builds a new race every week.

Then all you have to do is walk.

What is PathLeague?

PathLeague is a weekly step competition inside Pathlings.

After joining, your steps become your score in a shared race with your Game Center friends who also play Pathlings. As everyone walks throughout the week, their Pathlings move through the standings.

Walk more, and your Pathling climbs higher.

Each racer appears with their active Pathling and its current evolution stage, so the leaderboard feels less like a spreadsheet and more like a tiny creature race powered by real movement.

At the end of the week, PathLeague records the final standings, builds a podium, and awards rubies for participating and placing.

A new week brings a fresh start—and another chance to race.

How do you start a PathLeague race?

PathLeague uses Game Center to make racing with friends simple.

To get started:

1. Open Pathlings and find PathLeague on the Home screen.
2. Tap Join PathLeague.
3. Sign in to Game Center if needed.
4. Allow access to your Game Center friends.
5. Invite friends who do not have Pathlings yet.

Mutual Game Center friends who play Pathlings and allow friend access can appear in your weekly race automatically.

You do not need to organize a new challenge every seven days. Once everyone is connected, PathLeague takes care of the weekly reset and updated standings.

Your group simply keeps walking.

Your Pathling is the racer

PathLeague is not just a list of names and numbers.

Every player brings their active Pathling into the race.

Your friends can see which kind of Pathling you are raising and how far it has evolved. As your weekly score changes, your Pathling moves alongside the other racers.

That means the race grows with the rest of your Pathlings journey.

You might begin the week with a tiny Hatchling and return later with a newly evolved companion. You may recognize a friend’s familiar Sprout, Bubble, Ember, or Thunder Pathling waiting for you farther up the track.

The steps come from the real world.

The race happens in theirs.

Follow the race throughout the week

PathLeague updates the standings as new step totals are submitted.

You can open Pathlings to see:

• Your current weekly step total
• Your position in the race
• Your friends’ scores
• The Pathling each friend is raising
• How many steps separate you from the racers ahead
• When the current race ends

Maybe you are comfortably in first place.

Maybe a friend’s evening walk just pushed them ahead of you.

Or maybe you are only a short walk away from reaching the podium.

PathLeague gives all those everyday steps a shared destination.

When a weekly race ends, the results do not immediately disappear.

Switch to Last Week to see the final standings and celebrate the top three Pathlings on the podium.

This creates a small history for your group. Each completed week becomes its own story: who took an unexpected lead, who made a late comeback, and who is already asking for a rematch.

Then the next race begins with everyone back at the starting line.

Earn rubies for racing

PathLeague adds another way to earn rubies in Pathlings.

Complete an eligible week and you can receive a participation reward. Finishing near the top adds placement bonuses, while beating everyone in your race can earn an additional reward.

Those rubies can be used throughout Pathlings, connecting your friendly competition back to the companions and habitats you are already building.

Winning feels good.

Having more excuses to decorate your Pathling’s home is pretty good too.

PathLeague is powered by Apple’s Game Center integration.

Game Center handles player identity, friend connections, and the recurring leaderboard behind each weekly race. That lets PathLeague connect you with people you already know without requiring a separate Pathlings account system.

When you join, PathLeague shares the information needed to create the race:

• Your exact weekly step total
• Your Game Center display name and avatar
• Your active Pathling type
• Your Pathling’s current evolution stage

This information is used for PathLeague and is visible to participating Game Center friends who also play Pathlings.

Joining is optional, and you can stop sharing through Pathlings Settings.
